Michelle was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness from the age of 5 when her mum began studying with them in New Zealand. She was baptized at 19 in 2005.
She left the high control religion in February 2021 - after stumbling onto exjw Reddit while debunking conspiracy theories - and realized it was not “The Truth” in October 2020.
Michelle left publicly via her social media platforms and has not officially disassociated or been disfellowshipped (to her knowledge), as she did not want to adhere to made up rules anymore. Not one of her former close friends has spoken to her since.
She now uses social media to spread awareness about this harmful religion, while deconstructing with humor and art.
She is navigating “the world” and creating her authentic life, leading with kindness and fun.
